How We Calculate
Your MA Energy Incentives
Energy.x1000.ai is a free, independent tool that calculates all 11 active Massachusetts energy incentive programs for your household. No ads, no lead generation, no data selling.
Our Mission
Massachusetts has some of the most generous clean energy incentives in the US — but the programs are scattered across different agencies, utilities, and income tiers. Most households leave thousands of dollars on the table simply because they don't know what they qualify for.
We built this calculator to make the full picture accessible in under 2 minutes. The tool is maintained by LIGHT HOPE LLC, a Boston-based clean energy technology company.

Income Tier First
Every program starts with your income relative to Area Median Income (AMI) and State Median Income (SMI). We use HUD 2025 AMI figures for Massachusetts metro areas, updated annually.

Household-Specific
Rebate amounts vary by household size (1–8 persons), heating fuel type, and planned upgrades. We calculate each program individually before summing.

Utility-Aware
SMART 3.0 solar rates differ by utility: Eversource, National Grid, Cape Light Compact, and Unitil each have different base compensation factors. We auto-detect your utility from ZIP code.

2026 Policies
Federal residential clean energy credits (IRA 25C/25D) expired January 2025. Our tool reflects only active 2026 Massachusetts state and utility programs. We update quarterly.

All figures are estimates based on published program parameters. Actual benefits depend on individual audits, contractor quotes, income verification, and program availability.

Income-eligible households: flat $16,000 or no-cost turnkey. Standard: $2,650/ton whole home (max $8,500), $1,125/ton partial (max $8,500), $250/ton basic. Bonus $500 for sizing, +$500 for weatherized partial home.

Fixed 20-year tariff. Base rate varies by utility (Eversource ~$0.030/kWh, National Grid ~$0.025/kWh, Cape Light ~$0.034/kWh, Unitil ~$0.026/kWh). Income-eligible adder: 2× base. Battery adder: +$0.04/kWh. Projection = rate × annual production × 20 years.

Eligibility at 60% State Median Income (SMI). Annual benefit estimated at $1,500 (2024–2026 average Massachusetts benefit). Actual benefit depends on heating fuel type, household size, and annual usage.

Annual payment of ~$225–$450/season (summer + winter) for demand response dispatch. Requires ≥7 kWh battery. Calculator uses $675/year average estimate.
